A wedding ring disappears into the sand

A tungsten wedding ring slipped off during a volleyball game just a few weeks before the owner’s first wedding anniversary. Fortunately, he had a good idea of the general area where it was lost.

We marked the likely search zone, established a methodical grid and began working the sand section by section.

Recovered within minutes

Within just a few minutes, the detector produced the signal we were hoping for. The tungsten band was recovered from the sand and returned directly to its owner.

Lesson from the search

Knowing the general loss area can make all the difference.

When a ring disappears in sand, stop unnecessary foot traffic if possible and mark the best-known area. Even a rough location can dramatically reduce the search zone when a systematic grid is used.
